About Bodacious Space Pirates Abyss of Hyperspace Movie Blu-ray

In Bodacious Space Pirates: Abyss of Hyperspace, it's not easy being the captain of a space pirate ship. Especially when you're still in high school and aren't allowed to do normal pirate-stuff like rob and plunder.

However, despite those restrictions, Marika Kato has proven herself worthy of commanding the Bentenmaru. And if staging performances such as pretending to board and pillage space cruise ships doesn't pay as well as actually stealing stuff... well, at least no one gets hurt, right?

But things take a sinister turn when Marika and her crew are hired to raid the luxury liner Begin The Beguine. Because one of the passengers has a hidden secret and agenda of his own. And it begins with being kidnapped!

Suddenly the Bentenmaru and their new "hostage" are being pursued by other warships and the race is on for what could be the biggest prize of all! Batten your hatches and prepare to have your timbers shivered as Marika and her crew set sail for their highest adventure yet in BODACIOUS SPACE PIRATES - THE MOVIE!

Good Movie

A good stand alone story to continue the adventures of Marika and the crew of the Betenmaru.

I highly recommend watching the TV series first... there is little or no back story as it assumes your familiar with the series already.

Recommended.

Good Movie

When I see movies release for an anime, usually its a good indicator that the series is done. This should be watch after seeing seasons 1 and 2. It was a good adventure, but a different twist on space travel. All your favorite characters are back for one last adventure. I wish this series could continue, but thats true with many other animes. This is Dual Audio.

Enjoyable movie for fans

by -

This movie was created for the fans, and takes place during the break between Marika's second and third years of high school. People who didn't watch the series won't understand most of the cast of characters too well and won't understand some references back to events in the TV series. Overall, it's a fun story even if some aspects of following the story seem a bit rushed (essentially the same amount of time as doing a 4 episode story arc).

The movie keeps the aspect of positive messages of a person can choose their own future instead of just doing what is expected. I like that they kept the character personalities the same as well as the same general feel of the story as was in the TV series.

A decent continuation but not enough to bring it on home (3.5/5)

I remember watching the anime back when it aired in 2012 and it wasn’t until recently that I watched the movie for it. My memory wasn’t the best with the show but I still remember the main gist of it and seeing all these characters again put me in a good nostalgic mood. However, the movie itself wasn’t anything grand wise, just sorta felt like a 4-5 episode arc made into a movie. BUT, I still enjoyed it for what it was. I’m sure I would have liked it more when the show was still fresh in my head. I’d still recommend it if you liked the anime. How the movie looks and sounds doesn’t change a whole lot from the anime which can be good or bad for you. The story is pretty straightforward, but it did get a little confusing for me. Overall, this movie was a nice return, but didn’t provide a whole lot in the end. But that opening theme is still the best.
