A new period piece with budding romance, political intrigue, and beautiful art

The artwork is beautiful in this early industrial period story. A 10-year boy named Akihito must move from the country into his father's home in the city after his mother dies. After living there only a few months his father also dies and he is left in the care of the family's long-time butler Katsuragi. Akihito is the heir to the Kuze family name and is a viscount in the old empire's court. From a young age, Akihito develops feelings for Katsuragi, but are they returned? It's a great story that unfolds sweetly, but with lots of political intrigue as Katsuragi is the consummate butler, always maneuvering to establish the Kuze family at a higher level in the court. The historical aspects of a nation changing from an old feudal system to an industrial banking system added to the interest.

Worth the read

I picked up this book on a whim and was not disappointed. This story has a lot of mystery. It is also a time period piece. There is a lot of politics that go with the time period so you will have pay attention. I normally read manga so fast. But this one I took my time with.
