beautiful conclusion to the series

by -

I love how Blue Flag both emphasizes the importance of the choices we make in life and reminds us that just because we make a choice doesn't mean things will turn out as we expect. Discovering oneself is a lifelong journey, and Taichi's realization of that over the course of this volume is stunning. I have heard that for some, the ending felt abrupt and/or unearned, but I personally loved it and thought it embodied the message of the series. The art, as always, was beautiful as well. Highly recommended!

A great coming of age story! I've heard that the ending was rushed;however, I felt it was satisfying and a very enjoyable read. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Somewhat disappointing conclusion to an otherwise strong series

by

I feel conflicted about how to review this, because I really was enjoying the series up to this final volume, but I'm one of the ones who found the ending to be quite disappointing. As a member of the community myself, one of my favorite things about Blue Flag was its portrayal of LGBT+ characters, and in the end I felt like a lot of these storylines were simply thrown away. A lot of the character development that probably would've been the most interesting to read about happened completely off-screen in a time-skip. And in fact, I found the sole WLW character's ending to be so horribly handled that it actually made me angry.

I do think it's still worth checking the series out for yourself - I don't regret reading it, even if I'm not happy with the way it ended. The story is very interesting and emotional, the characters are lovable, and the art is gorgeous, but you should be prepared that the ending may not be what you expect.

Buckle Up

This is a 5 star for me. It’s hard to find a high school romance with this type of pacing, quality love interests, and twists. The fact they were able to produce 8 volumes focusing on one by ear of high school was amazing. The detailed side characters and the POV of typical society was a story that had me hooked from beginning to end!
