About Bloom Into You Blu-ray

Bloom Into You contains episodes 1-13 of the anime directed by Makoto Kato.

Yuu Koito thought love would be something amazing and magical, but when a male friend asks her to date, she feels nothing. She doesn't even know how to respond until she overhears the student council president of her new high school, Touko Nanami, turning down a similar request.

With Touko's help, Yuu manages to let her friend down gracefully, but then Touko confesses that she, herself, is starting to have feelings for Yuu, leaving Yuu in a quandary. Yuu doesn't think that she's in love with Touko, but she does feel something. As Yuu joins the Student Council, and she and Touko become closer, her confusion about her feelings only continues to grow. Because you can't control who you love, or who falls in love with you.

Refreshing Change Up

by -

This is a Yuri show. Yuri means Girl/Girl.
I had known of the genre before and thought I would try something different. Looked up some of the more popular ones and ended up choosing Bloom Into You.

The show itself, in my opinion, was a great experience. Got to watch something out of my usual field of anime, and wound up enjoying quite a bit. There's not many times I can watch a show completely blind. I had no knowledge of the plot, characters, or any of the common tropes.

Definitely not for everyone. It is one of those shows that I would label as an "Experience Show". You are there for the ride, so sit back and enjoy the show. If you aren't into the slice of life genre, this probably won't change that.

But, if you are looking for a change up and want a nice, slow show, this would be for you.

Charming, I hope the story is finished someday

by -

I don't usually watch this sort of thing, but I heard good things about it as a good place to start if I wanted to watch a yuri romance that isn't just about girls being all over each other. I was instantly intrigued by the two main characters, especially Yuu and her struggle about being able to feel love.

Touko is an adorable but satisfyingly complicated counterpoint to Yuu. It's like having a big, affectionate but nervous rescue puppy hop into Yuu's life. When interacting with each other, there are a lot of charming (and awkward) moments. They also both have several moments of internal monologue on the nature of love or identity that are very thoughtful and evocative.

I hope someday this anime will resume the story, but it was interesting enough for me that I might resort to going to the source material to keep going if I have to.
