Blood Blockade Battlefront Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD
About Blood Blockade Battlefront Limited Edition Blu-ray/DVD
Produced by Studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist, Space Dandy, Soul Eater) and created by Trigun writer Yasuhiro Nightow, Blood Blockade Battlefront brings compelling characters and dynamic plotlines together for one unforgettable adventure.
After a breach between Earth and the netherworld opens up over New York, humans and creatures from other dimensions become trapped in an impenetrable bubble that surrounds the city. Forced to coexist in a new city known as Salem’s Lot, the shaky peace between humanity and the netherworld creatures is protected by an underground group of super humans known as Libra. When a case of mistaken identity brings not-so-ordinary delivery boy Leonardo Watch face-to-face with this group, he joins their ranks hoping to help prevent the destruction of the world by a group of monsters and madmen led by a powerful being known as the King of Despair.

Ratings & Reviews
A must see, fun for the whole family!
by Andrew -
Fun, fast, and hilarious this action packed thriller is a must for any die hard western anime fan. If you love FMA, Trigun and have not yet seen this show it is a must in your collection. Yasuhiro Nightow, does it again with another splendid story. The only downside is that there are only 12 episodes in this amazing series. I have seen both dubbed and subbed versions and the voice acting is superb.
Solid Release, Poor Art Cards
by James -
This LE was a bit disappointing. The box is solid cardboard and looks good. It's shiney, but the colors aren't nearly as pronounced as the digital image. Not a terrible loss, but I really did like how sleek the digital image was in comparison. Still, it's a great looking box, just a little different from my expectations. The reversible art on the BluRay and DVD cases have some great art, and between those and the case, I was really looking forward to some amazing art cards. That's where this release fails. The art cards are simple card stock prints of the character with their on screen text ripped straight from the show. They aren't even laminated and they're held together inside the DVD/BD cases. Good for space, but bad for shipping. Some of mine slipped out and the edges were damaged. Compared to the art that the slipbox and Disc cases have, these cards were a major let down. Don't let the art cards be a selling factor for you on this LE, otherwise it's solid
A return to Funimation's ultra lame Limited Editions...
by relyat08 -
I love this show, and everyone should see it, but unfortunately, this specific release doesn't meet my expectations for a Funimation LE. In the recent past we have had excellent LE releases like Eden of the East and Rage of Bahamut, so when I received this with it's incredibly small box, that contains nothing more than two amaray cases with the Blu-rays and DVDs in them, I was rather disappointed. The on-disc extras that are included are actually extremely barebones, and all we get in addition to the discs and the Artbox are a few little "artcards" that are reprints of official art that is already elsewhere on the release. For the price, and compared to what I expect from a Funimation LE, this is pretty lacking, if you want the show, I recommend the standard release, or just checking it out on their website.
Great Series, Minimal Goodies
Fantastic series but at MSRP this "limited edition" set is not really worth. Nice chipboard box but the included art cards aren't amazing. And that's all there is too. Would only recommend to big fans or if you got it on a nice sale.
Art cards disappointing, but show's great
by Jessi -
Loved the series, the dub is solid (especially for a simuldub as those are generally rushed without as much thought as something that's been out for a long time), and the subs are great too. I agree with everyone else's comments on the art cards, but it wasn't enough to take marks down for me.
Another unique show from BONES
by TERYL -
I am unsure about this show. Blood Blockade Battlefront is animated by my fav, Studio BONES. You get awesome animation, dynamic storytelling, and great music that enhances action and emotional scenes. The show feels like it should have been a 26 episode count as there are a lot of interesting characters that you want to get to know their backstory. The show ends and leaves more to be explored, I was told there might be a second season so we shall see.
Overall good quality

For a limited edition release, this isn't bad, but it's also not fantastic. If you're a die hard B3 fan, then this is definitely worth it. If you're just a casual fan, I would suggest the regular blu ray release. On the box itself, the art is beautiful. On the inside, there's nothing too special. There are a lot of art cards, but they aren't high quality prints and the paper isn't very sturdy. For about $40, I think this is definitely worth it. Any higher and it's a rip off.
