Neat, but primitive figure not worth much money
I got this figure with the collector's edition when it was first released. It was a nice extra to be packaged with the set, but it is NOT worth any more than $15, tops!
It has limited articulation and low detail painting. The sword is floppy, and you can't meaningfully pose the figure. It just stands there. It'd be a little better if it were the typical white figure (previously sold with figures of Van and Hitomi), but the black version in both less iconic and ugly in comparison.
A Cool bit of history
I never thought I'd be able to get an escaflowne figure. And while it is more reminiscent of the few times the robot went evil, it still looks cool as heck. I thought I wouldn't even be able to get it because it came with the old dvds back when bandai owned the rights. Could it be better? I guess. But its a 15 year old figure that was only suppose to come with a limited edditon box set. for the current price of below $15 I say that's a steal.
Nice for the Price

This Escaflowne black edition figure is around seven inches tall and features very limited articulation (head, shoulders, hips, hands and the feet). You won't get too many poses from it. The figure is made from this soft material that scratches easily but holds detail well, and the cape is very detailed. The figure also comes with a sword accessory but it is very long and made from the same soft material which makes it a bit flaccid and hard to pose with. The figure comes in a nice fully decorative box (which originally was part of a DVD set) that has a opening lid. My only issue with the box is that the artwork shows Escaflowne in its normal colors while the figure is the black variant. For what is currently about $25 after shipping, I would say it is a figure worth what the price is if you are just looking for a Escaflowne display piece.
