Ratings & Reviews
Best. Anime. EVAR.
I don't know what has me more excited: the fact that FUNimation saved this from the annals of Geneon's vault after they went belly up, or just the face that it exists at all! From the very first scene you know you're in for a good time, and thankfully the action never lets up for a second. I mean if modern day pirates, Neo Nazis, gunrunning nuns, bullets plenty Terminator-like super maids, and one of the baddest gunslingers mamas EVER don't get you excited, then you're clearly looking for entertainment in the wrong place, my friend.
The whole things looks fantastic in HD, and with better audio quality than its DVD counterpart all the guns and explosions and profanity are all the more satisfying. My only complaint is that all the Omake shots STILL aren't included, even if they aren't dubbed, but that's just me. This is still hands down one of the absolute best anime in existence and should be enjoyed by everyone (18 and older)!
Make no mistake that Black Lagoon is one wild ride, and by all means pick this one up if you haven't. What I don't understand is why Funimation is doing a Blu-ray/DVD combo of this. I already own the DVD version, but the fact I this is a combo pack, and Funimation had previously released a complete DVD Collection doesn't make sense why this is a combo pack. This should be a straight up Blu-ray release only, I don't need another DVD version.
By all means if you don't own Black Lagoon in any format go for it, otherwise ask yourself, do I need another DVD version, when it was the Blu-Ray I wanted all along?
striaght to the point.
HELL YEEEEEES!!!!! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO COME OUT ON BLU-RAY FOREVER!!! IF YOU LIKE OVER THE TOP ACTION GET THIS YOU WANT REGRET IT. SEASON 1 WAS AWESOME SEASON 2 A LITTLE SLOW BUT STILL OFF THE CHAIN. TRUST WHEN I SAY THIS THEY DONT MAKE ANMIE LIKE THIS ANYMORE. XD
If this won't get your blood boiling I don't know what will
I didn't discover this anime until recently and when I saw it was being released on BR I HAD to get it. I absolutely love this anime! It's action packed with great chase scenes (car and boat), gun fights, women who kick all kinds of ass, and some pretty awesome characters. My ONLY complaint, and I mean ONLY, is that I hate Revy's voice in the dubbed version. It's completely ruined. I seriously can't stand to watch the dubbed version. Which disappointed me. But in all honesty it's just my opinion on the matter. Don't let that stop you from buying and enjoying a wild ride that won't just be another dust collector on the shelf. This is an anime you can watch again and again.
Gun Fights and Cursing to the Max
Black Lagoon is the most action packed anime I have ever seen. The story is about a Japanese man that gets involved with a smuggler/mercenary group called Lagoon Company. It follows the structure of about 3-4 episode story arcs of jobs they are hired to do my various people and then they need to kill anywhere between 2-100 people to get the job done. Great animation, ditto for the characters but you come to Black Lagoon for the kickass levels of action.
Two seasons included in the package both on dvd and blu-ray. One of the best action anime ever made and hands down the best gun fights in anime. Tons of cursing and tons of death so be warned or enjoy.
Action Packed Thrill Ride
The title of my post says it all.
Black Lagoon is almost nonstop action from the start to finish. The individual story arcs are about 3-4 episodes each, which is the perfect amount of time to build a nice storyline and climax without it ever getting boring or dragged out.
The action itself is awesome and its actually meaningful because the story has already drawn you in. The animation is vibrant and beautiful. The language is very foul. The violence is very graphic. The action is over-the-top.
All in all it was a fun ride at a good price!
It's Great, Check It Out!
I didn't know much going into this anime. I had only seen one trailer and that was enough for me. I was very surprised by the show! It has great characters, action, story and it even has it's lighthearted moments too. Check out this series because it's totally worth it!

If you haven't seen Black Lagoon yet, then you ain't seen ANIME! This is what it's all about. Action, characters, plot, storyline, feelings, etc. This is the best of the best. Worth every $$$. Get "Roberta's Blood Trail" too.

First off, just my opinion I think that Right Stuff is wrong in placing 'Fan Service' as one of the themes for this anime.
People that hate 'Fan Service' will avoid it & people that buy it for the 'Fan Service' will be disappointed in that aspect.
This anime has great characters and good stories.
Lots of violence and swearing, so if that offends you then stay away.
Absolutely loved this anime it is one of my first and favorite anime's of all time I highly recommend it.
Black Lagoon is two anime in one, and I don't mean that as a compliment.
One anime is a hard-nosed political drama, with military hardware as fan service. It spends much of its running time detailing its setting of Roanapur, its connections to the Golden Triangle and the South China Sea, the criminal families that rule it, their relationships with international organizations like the FARC, and the minutia of running a mercenary company. It's an anime that emphasizes the substantial danger, both mental and physical, in such an environment, and takes great pains to remind the viewer of the ever-present threat of a quick, messy death.
The other anime is a hyper-violent gun ballet where someone can get shot dozens of times and survive, bare hands are sufficient to break a blade or even a chainsaw, and viewing pleasure comes from the thrill of over-the-top action, because the main characters are functionally gun-fu gods.
I like both of these anime, just not at the same time.
