Beyond the Boundary Blu-ray
About Beyond the Boundary Blu-ray
Beyond the Boundary collection contains episodes 1-12 of the anime directed by Taichi Ishidate.
They should never have met. They shouldn't even exist. But when they come together, the entire world will change.
The last surviving member of her clan, Mirai Kuriyama is cursed with the terrifying ability to control and manipulate blood, a power so heretical that she is shunned even by those with the ability to understand her "gift." Akihito Kanbara is only half human, but while the monstrous other half of his lineage seems to have doomed him to a life alone, it has also given him near invulnerability in the form of rapid healing.
Alone, their futures seem bleak, but when a chance encounter brings them together, it becomes clear that they share more than just an unexpected bond. Together they share a destiny and a mission that only the two of them together may be strong enough to survive.

An absolute must-own!
For me, this was probably anime series of the year in 2013. Funny, full of emotion and simply beautiful to watch. How many anime have the characters form a J-pop band just to fight a monster? It is a crying shame that Sentai wants $70 more for just one more episode. I hope the pricing, like the box art, are not final on these. For now, I would recommend this version over the collector's edition.
Solid Show, Insulting Set
This show is solidly entertaining. It looks great, has cute character designs, and solid action sequences. It also has a very good sense of deadpan humor, and does a pretty good job keeping the jokes coming even as it approaches the end, which is impressive for a series practically designed to wallow in pathos. Its only weaknesses are a bit of an emotionally-cheap end and somewhat convoluted backstory.
This set, however, is an insult. See, there's this basic set (which is quite spendy for a one-season series) and the *extremely* expensive special edition set. That's fine--you want cosplay glasses and a bunch of extras (and have deep pockets) you get the special edition; you just want to put the series on your shelf, you get this.
Except the basic edition doesn't include the bonus episode 0, while the special edition does. Seriously? Paying three times the price is the *only* way to get the extra episode for an already expensive series? That's just ridiculous.
Nice supernatural slice of life

When I originally watched this series I thoroughly enjoyed it in its subtitled format. After purchasing the blue-ray I was curious to see how the dubbed episodes would effect my viewing pleasure. I was pleasantly surprised that nothing was lost in the translation and that the voice actors do a good job of expressing the emotions of the characters. Only downside was that episode 0 was not added as a special extra, but I was not willing to pay for the limited edition in order to see it.

It is very good, but not one of my favorites. I like the studio and I'm collecting all it's series and movies. So decided to buy it since I saw the price was affordable and the shipping better. Arrived before I expected and well packed. Good purchase.
