Lets be real Berserk 2016/2017 is hot garbage. Its a follow up to the original 1997 anime or the 3 movie adaption which is just a shortened condensed 3d version of the original series.
Berserk 2016/2017 uses a terrible mix of 3d and 2d animations on top of each other… If you think that sounds bad.... it is. very few shows pulled this kind of effect off, like drifters for example. Also they constantly reuse the same sound bites... CLANG... The movements are jagged and the characters jump around, the textures are so bad time they take away from the story. There is almost zero expression on the characters faces. Also the story time skips and cuts entire arcs and key characters and motives out entirely.
If you want the true Berserk experience Watch the original 1997 series and read and support the manga.. So we can get a proper sequel or full out reboot. The only passable thing was the music score.

Should have ZERO stars

First of all the animation (if it can be categorized as such) was horrific, almost as if it was trying to be as disturbing as the Manga but in all the wrong ways.
This was an insult to the origin story, they even altered time lines with characters from the original source manga. Do your self a favor, buy the original 90s box set and read the manga, I know its slow release but this abomination will do nothing but burn your eyes out and put a never ending bad taste in your mouth.

Hate it or love, it's still Berserk

by -

To be a Berserk fan is to struggle, and while I can't argue against the terrible decision to use cgi instead of drawn animation, the series was still highly enjoyable. From my understanding, they even fixed some visuals on this release. It's a hate it or love it situation so stream it first then decide if you wanna keep your glasses off and click buy.

Gutsy Guts

by -

Beware: Berserk is not for young children since it's full of goring actions, horror, nudity, and foul language with monsters right and left.

Story is hard to understand if you've never seen the original anime or read the Manga. This anime skipped to Guts seeking revenge on the man; who he once considered his friend and alley, that branded him as a sacrifice for those lying in the dark.

If it's not your cup of tea due to the anime 2D art I suggest watching it online before purchasing. I, on the other hand don't mind the characters voice and art. I'm more interested in the story itself. It just sucks to find out that we are not even close to the ending.

BERSERK!!!

This series is an adaption of the Berserk manga and the main focus is adapting the Conviction Arc in the first season and the first half of the Falcon of the Millennium Empire Arc in season 2. If you haven’t read the manga, the best place to start is The Golden Age Arc movie trilogy. The 2016 series basically starts after the events of the movie trilogy. This series has a great storyline and is entertaining, dark, brutal and very engaging. There are some changes and plot points left out of this show from the manga, but that’s mostly true for any art form being adapted to a different media. The one issue with this series is the weird and awkward 2D/3D animation style that is uses. In a perfect world, I wish they could use the 2D animation style use in the opening theme songs for this series, it looks amazing! I really enjoyed this series, I just wish the animation style was one this manga adaption deserves.
