About Bakemonogatari Novel Volume 1

Bakemonogatari Volume 1 features story by Nisioisin.

There’s a girl at their school who is always ill. She routinely arrives late, leaves early, or doesn’t show up at all, and skips gym as a matter of course. She’s pretty, and the boys take to whispering that she’s a cloistered princess. As the self-described worst loser in her class soon finds out, they just don’t know what a monster she is.

So begins a tale of mysterious maladies that are supernatural in origin yet deeply revealing of the human psyche, a set of case files as given to unexpected feeling as it is to irreverent humor. So begins the legendary novel that kicked off the MONOGATARI series, whose anime adaptations have enjoyed international popularity and critical acclaim.

This first of three parts introduces Senjogahara and Hachikuji, and fans of the blockbuster prequel KIZUMONOGATARI will be delighted to meet their favorite crazies again: the weirdly reliable narrator Araragi, class president among class presidents Hanekawa, shady problem-solver Oshino, and a certain pale, blonde former vampire.

After reading the first book I can say it's amazing as the anime series. Definitely plan to buy all the novels. Great read and buy. Best price I"ve found compared to other sites. Highly recommend

Intriguing!

I love being able to read the novels or mangas where a great anime originated from and I can say this was a great read. Since it's essentially a mystery novel revolving around the supernatural it definitely has a lot of missing pieces that you start to put together as you continue to read. I'm ready to grab the next novel.

Not for everyone, but definitely a classic.

Nisioisin is brilliant. This is my absolute favorite series and my only problem is that I just wish my "Nihongo" was "Jouzu" enough to read this in the original language as you likely miss out on a lot of the wordplay he's is prone to do. If you're a huge nerd you will probably like it.

However, just a forewarning: this series isn't for every one as it has a lot of dialogue and, uh, some will likely feel uncomfortable with some of the weird sexual situations that happens across the series. I'm sure some who have stumbled upon this may already be aware of the "toothbrush scene" that happens in Nisemonogatari.
( If not, not feel free to Google that bit from the anime adaptation and determine if it's not too weird for you )

Also I absolutely adore Vofan's art. The quality and feel of the physical books themselves are great.
