About Attack on Titan The Movie Part 1 DVD
Attack on Titan Part 1 reimagines the story in this live action movie.
When the Titans first attacked, life for mankind was forever changed. Fearing the massive man-eating humanoids, survivors constructed three enormous walls for protection. From that point on, humanity lived safely behind the walls”for the time being. A century later, life is peaceful.
Eren and his friends live inside the walls, yearning to explore beyond the borders they've always known. But the opportunity comes sooner than expected when a Colossal Titan appears above the wall. With a single kick the barricade is pierced, allowing a swarm of titans to pour in and devour their newly exposed prey. Witnessing the devastation, Eren and his friends vow to destroy the man-eating terrors. The future looks bleak, but there's more to Eren than meets the eye: he may be humanity's last hope against extinction.

Having a terrible day? Watch this!
I saw this in the theater when it was released. I was so excited for this too. However, they took a bunch of liberties and changed some things. Levi is NOT in the movie, they replaced him with this creepy apple Iron Chef guy who was the love interest of Mikasa and they amped up the love between Eren & Mikasa. After a quick Google search, Levi was left out because the writers set the story in Japan and because of the kanji and pronunciation difficulty "Levi" provides, he was cut out and huzzah! Enter creepy apple eating guy. There was also this semi-rapey scene with Eren and this lady who desperately needed a father for her kid and then she gets eaten by a Titan...and those are hilarious! Titans remind me of humans in foam body suits.
I recommend this if you are having a terrible day and need a good laugh.
Not as bad as others say
If you love the anime then you will either hate or enjoy this movie. I watched the anime and am currently up to date with the manga and to be honest, this live action movie isn't as bad as people say. Yes it doesn't follow the original plot and the characters aren't ethnically portrayed correctly, but it is still an enjoyable movie. The titans at times look goofy and really CGI, but at other times they look terrifying and make it look like a horror movie. The use of blood did go a little overboard at times and the music was a little bit all over the place.
The movie as a whole felt like a weird Kaiju movie. Was it a good live action remake? Yes and no. Just don't take this movie seriously. Would I recommend it? I would say yes. It's an interesting movie that you should at least see once to see what it's all like.
