About Ascendance of a Bookworm Blu-ray

Ascendance of a Bookworm contains episodes 1-26 of the anime directed by Mitsuru Hongo.

When a sickly young girl suddenly becomes obsessed with inventing new things, her family and friends are all puzzled. "What has gotten into Myne?" they wondered, never dreaming that the answer is not a "What" but a "Who": Urano Motosu, a book-loving apprentice librarian who died in an earthquake in Tokyo who somehow found herself in Myne's body! And since Myne's world is still in a medieval stage, where books can only be owned by the elite, the new Myne intends to do everything she can to bring her beloved books to the masses in the time she has left. Unfortunately, that may not be very long, as Myne's body is still failing, and she may only have a short time left to achieve her lofty goals!

A Wonderful Tale of Literary Passion

by -

While aimed as a 'Shojo' style anime series, I felt the show fits nicely as a family oriented show as well. I really enjoyed this one, as Main applies her '21st Century Book Knowledge' to affect changes in her new predicament. I also grew fond and empathetic towards a character who struggles to not only create a book, but must deal with a terrible affliction. The show features an outstanding supporting cast, a musical score that was defining for the time period, and grand story that features Main's growth from a peasant girl to newfound responsibilities in a world with a social cast system she also desires to impact. Highly recommended if you like Isekai, and because a third season has been approved for production.

Isekai Masterpiece

This is a feel good isekai, it warms the soul. This is definitely one of my favorite isekais. I consider this a world heritage isekai. The story is amazing. Everything fits, characters grow, and have problems that match their character. Sometimes isekai characters use knowledge that is completely unexpected for their character and unrealistic. All modern world knowledge Myne uses fits with her character and is realistic.
