About Arpeggio of Blue Steel Blu-ray/DVD

In Arpeggio of Blue Steel, the Fleet of Fog came on the rising tides of the oceans. Where the waters swallowed the land, the ships of war, bearing far superior technology to anything humanity could produce, brought desolation to the armies of man.

Conquering the oceans, the Fog isolated the nations from one another. With no means of communication, and no ability to conduct trade, humanity was doomed, unable to inflict the slightest scratch upon the overwhelming power of the superior ships.

But not everything is lost. Despite the rumors surrounding his father, Chihaya Gunzou is following in his old man's foot steps by attending a naval academy. But while his father might be dead, or worse, defected to the Fog, Chihaya wants to gain the power to break the stagnation gripping humanity. And as it so happens, he gains that power when a mysterious girl approaches him, and claims she has orders to obey him.

As strange as it seems, the truth turns out to be even stranger, for that girl is Iona--that is, I-401 Iona, the Blue Steel, a submarine formerly with the Fog. Now Chihaya suddenly has the power he needs... even if he has to make an enemy of humanity to affect the change he desires!

Great story line and characters

I've been a huge fan since I first discovered this series. Now I have it in my collection.
Well worth the wait.
Great action, characters, and plot.

Naval Battles in Spaaaace! only at Sea

a rarity these days = a good old naval battle narrative tweaked into an improbable future with chibi AI's galore; good ensemble interaction and while there's a bit of harem vibe to it, there's little to no fan service and some thrilling strategic fights!

worth the price of admission

this one surprised me. the story is a lot like bodacious space pirates and divergence eve. the sound fx for this show remind me of bodacious space pirates, majestic prince and knights of sidonia. you cant go wrong with any of those. this is about a 4.3-4.4 star show. I love the ending song, it is a lot like the ending to blade and soul. if you love anime... buy this one, you wont regret it. i feel bad for giving this one 4 stars. :(

ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER!! It has great characters an action packed story that uses smart strategys to beat the overpowering enemy forces since the main characters only have a submarine with limited supplies. Note it is different from the manga but I didn't have a problem with that because I like both versions anyway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW!!

Androids, Aliens, Ships?

This series is one of those quiet ones that many people just skip over, but it's worth a watch. It's only 12 episodes and also has a manga to go with it. The anime keeps it to just a surface layer and does not delve too deep into each of the characters back stories.

If you like series like Chobits, Girls Und Panzer, Steel Angel Kurumi, Mahoromatic, Strike Witches, then you'll like this series also. The girls in their human form are the main computers for the ships. The ships are their bodies and they are not from this planet. The ranks are being broken and the commander is not pleased. These ships do not fully understand man and man does not understand them or their purpose at all. This one guy ends up collecting a harem of his own. This is not a typical harem style anime either with all of the girls falling all over the guy and being a comedy. They are in a war and slowly gain new allies as they go.

Good series

Interesting take on the Ship girls premise. Closest I can compare this to is Kantai Collection.. and I preferred this one.

Not a bad series and I'd like to see more.
