Decent, but not That Special

by

To start with, this is actually derived from a trading card game that was only released in Japan, and was naturally created as a promotion for that. This also means that you don't need to be familiar with the game.

The series itself was decent, but not great. It boasts solid art and decent animation, but the plot and characters were rather cliche and pedestrian. Much more impressive is the soundtrack, provided by the always-outstanding Yuki Kajiura.

All told, it's a decent and entertaining fantasy show, if not a groundbreaking one. But it's marred a bit by the fact that there's limited access to the actual game or other materiel related to it.
