About Another Day of Life Blu-ray/DVD

Another Day of Life is an animated film directed by Raul de la Fuente and Damian Nenow, with story based on the book by bestselling journalist Ryszard "Ricardo" Kapuściński.

In 1975, a bloody civil war breaks out across Angola after the country declares independence from Portugal. Against all advice, Kapuściński drives south into the heart of the conflict to find the isolated rebel leader Farrusco. What he witnesses from the frontlines challenges his ability to remain an impartial observer, in this acclaimed and unique blend of action-packed animation and documentary testimony.

A Glimpse Into Being A War Reporter

by -

The movie is best described as a docu-drama, swapping between the movie adaptation of the highly-personal book and various interviews with people involved in the events still living to this day. The swapping between the two genres seems natural as the interviews often address the issues or events being addressed within the current scenes. The story is compelling, though it can feel rushed at some points. Whereas other anti-war stories mostly TELL you why war is terrible, this one simply SHOWS you how nonsensical and destructive war is--as well as highly stylized scenes demonstrating the main character's emotional struggles. I get a feeling that the movie adaptation took a bold balance between 3 diverging elements--the historical events, artistic licensing on difficult topics, and documentary-styled interviews--pulling off the balancing act by the end.

If you are interested in the general plot of this movie and have the money to spare, I would suggest giving this film a chance!
