About Another Blu-ray

Another complete collection contains episodes 1-12.

Mei Misaki was cute, athletic, and one of the most popular girls in her school. Why should a little thing like death change that? Now, twenty-three years after Mei's mysterious demise, a new transfer student discovers that not only is his school's student body one corpse short of a full roster, but that some secrets never leave high school. What's more, all of this may somehow be tied to his own family past.

What is the secret and how does it all connect? And even if Kouichi does figure it out, will that knowledge help save him? As the school bells toll a deadly dirge and students begin to die, things that were never properly buried come back to haunt the high school of the damned!

A very good mystery with some terrifying twists

by

This is one of those Japanese High Schools with a curse on a certain class (OK, I know what you're saying 'Yeah just what High School Class in Japan isn't cursed?' - hehehe! - not totally original but it is a very good mystery with some terrifying twists for the students of this class as they try to figure a way to get out from under the Curse that has effected this class for over 20 years. Worth seeing!
But you might not want to watch this alone!

I liked it

by

This anime has a lot of twists and turns. I would highly recommend this. Google the premise to see if its for you. It also has a lot of gore, which is cool.

Great series; disc release could have been better

by

I won't go into the story of Another. Basically Class 3 is cursed and unless countermeasures are taken, people start to die. The mystery, intrigue, and animation all extremely well done. Another is a modern show, and it certainly looks the part on Blu-Ray, with crisp linework and colors. There are some qualms I have about the show as released by Sentai however.
Firstly, when I inserted my disc into my PS3, there was no preview image for the disc, it just told me that it was a Blu-Ray disc. Secondly, there aren't that many bonus features. There is a cute extra animation featuring Misaki, and the clean OP & ED, but that's about it. The extra episode OVA is NOT included here. Also, the menus have no music or sound effects on them.
If you like the show, then buying it is a no brainer, I just think that the hefty $50+ pricetag isn't quite worth it, especially when you can get a show like Nadesico, which comes with 26 episodes, an OVA, AND a movie for a cheaper price.

It will keep you Guessing

by

This is a "guessing game" kind of show here.
You have this good cast of characters and a tricky story that keeps you wanting to find out more.

Great horror/mystery

This show does a good job of intriguing the viewer with the first episode and the explanation about the "rumor" about the town early on without giving away everything. The reveal at the end was a big surprise to me and I would definitely watch it again.

One of the Better Horror Titles in Anime

by

Another is a short anime, but it knows where it's going and it'll drag you there by your ears. I enjoyed that experience immensely, trying to figure out what was going on and how rules were being followed thereby, but the friend with whom I watched it was reduced to tears by how frustrating and arbitrary she found the twists. Talking afterward, she agreed that she enjoyed it but didn't enjoy how the "mystery" was constructed, which she thought was often thrown under the bus anyway for extra gore. I didn't have these issues, but I recognized them when they were explained to me. Still, compared to something like Higurashi, I think it's on the top shelf, for sure.

The Blu-ray release itself is strikingly barebones, with no extras, a static menu, and the annoying tendency to lump the majority of the episodes onto the first disc for no apparent reason. I know that's par for the course with Sentai, but it's still worth calling out.

Bought elsewhere, great horror show!

by

To find an actually interesting, and well developed horror story in Japanese animation is very difficult. This is one of the very few that was released with a sole intention of being horror and did it quite darn well. Although feeling a little rushed by the end it can't be helped with just a span of 12 episodes. This show makes amazing using of sound effects , definitely provided several chills down my spine.

Another...

This was an enjoyment anime.

This anime felt like it went from final destination to battle royale...
The main girl was the only interesting character in the whole anime other then that only the murder scenes were decent to watch

Plus I wish the OVA came with this release

Awesome Horror Anime

by -

One of my favourite horror genre anime, there's a good twist in it. Some gorey parts but it's not too over the top. It draws you in and makes you want to marathon through it and It's got the same overall feel as the anime Dusk Maiden Amnesia. It's really good, I highly recommend it.

So spooky

by -

This is horror done right. It's not just jump scares and cheap spooks. I felt tension at every moment. There are a few things that don't really add up or make sense, but that all happens mostly near the end. I don't want to spoil anything, but don't get too attached to any of the characters.

Good show

by

It's like final destination but better and in anime form. The show isn't gore and bloody so if that is what you are looking for then you should move on. There are a few gore deaths and blood but not alot. It's more of a mystery type show with supernatural and death involved.

However I suggest watching the series before purchasing because of the price of this set. It's only 12 episodes for 50 dollars so choose or read the plot before.

A Must Buy

I'm very happy to see an Anime attempt to do harrow stories. Physiologically a human cannot be scared of Anime. This is a very good physiological thriller that makes you question human nature.

Would you kill someone if everyone told you it was the right thing to do?
