Accept this Invitation!

I picked up An Invitation From a Crab out of simple curiosity. It was such a strangely transcendent surprise that I was instantly compelled to post a review to advocate for it. Inside is a 70% real/30% surreal world of pages shadowed by painstakingly haunting Edward Gorey-esque crosshatching. There is a playful, wistful tone that carries throughout each of the vignettes. The stories are dreamlike and sparse, but completely charming. If this sort of surrealist sketchbook intrigues you, I urge you to give it a try.

Nice.

It's been a year since I've purchased this manga. And so far I've only finished the first volume chapter.
This manga is very dream-like. Haven't finished it because it's a nice read once you're in a mood where you really don't want to make too much sense of things.

Lovely compilation of short stories

I recommend this if you enjoy reading short stories. They're not related to each other and there are short essays/thoughts at the end of some of the stories. The artwork is also nice to look at.

Great read, will surely read again!

This book was really nice. The style of short vignette stories interspersed with short personal essays made the story flow really nice, and its surrealist themes felt really unique and refreshing. The artist did a wonderful job of blending thick crosshatching pen and lighter, duller, penciling to create depth and allow the characters to become visually distinct against the detailed backgrounds. My favorite story was the one about the onions, you'll know when you get there.
