About A Wind Named Amnesia DVD

Are we shackled by civilization? What is a human being, when freed from the pressures of society? A Wind Named Amnesia explores Earth after a mysterious wind blows away all of humanity's memories and reduces people to a more primitive state. Through certain circumstances, Wataru has relearned how to speak and think, and now is determined to find out just what remains in the wake of the wind.

Joined by a strange woman named Sophia, the two of them set out on a journey across what was once known as the United States of America. Along the way, they will witness the true nature of man, and just what it means to be human.

Originally written by Hideyuki Kikuchi (Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D), A Wind Named Amnesia is a timeless classic with a compelling, creative alternative to the typical post-apocalypse story. It's a must-see for any fan of animation!

Kept My Interest

by -

I read about this film through Anime News Network's Justin Sevakis article Buried Treasure. While curious, I wanted to see this for myself. Tonal wise the character(s) are average, it's nothing grandiose, the premise is novel enough to keep my interest. Animation is competently done, with some noticeable mistakes, the (US) voice acting is sterile, overall this is not on anyone's radar. I found it enjoyable.

Unique and Memorable Piece of Anime History

by -

A Wind Named Amnesia features a remarkably unique premise and is well worth watching for fans of 90s anime and anime history. Hampered somewhat by its abrupt, ambiguous ending and an antagonist that grows somewhat tiresome by the end, it is still more than worthwhile of a purchase for the its premise and its unique, and often captivating tale.
