About 009 Re:Cyborg Movie Blu-ray/DVD

From the director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex comes the cyber punk story 009 Re:Cyborg!

Many years ago, nine humans were captured and transformed into cyborgs for the purposes of becoming agents of evil. Instead, they rebelled, becoming champions of justice anytime the earth was in need.

Now, in a post-9/11 world, the meaning of "justice" has become clouded. The cyborgs, untouched by time, and some without memory of their status as heroes, have since taken up lives as ordinary civilians. But when a mysterious force known only as "His Voice" compels people across the world to commit unspeakable acts of violence, even cyborg 009, Joe Shimamura, falls victim to the irresistible faceless power. In an era when cyber-terrorism is rapidly advancing, how can the cyborgs combat an enemy that has no face, no weapons, and seemingly no motive?

009 Re:Cyborg Movie (no Spoilers)

The Movie is a great purchase for any fan of the series 009 Re:Cyborg. It comes with a booklet and enough special features. The movie itself is worth the purchase with a modern tone and slick character models. The setting is well crafted and story intiguing from beginning to end. Do you hear his voice too? XD. anyways Buy it!

Different can be Good

I knew going in not to have the previous 2001 series in mind when watching this, and that’s probably why I enjoyed it so much. Plus, I am a sucker for philosophy amid action sequences and light drama. Overall it was good and I hope we’ll see the Devilman crossover with the VAs that worked on this. That said, the accents are really well done. The graphics and sleek new designs for our heroes are excellent. Music? Totally awesome. That leaves the plot. Basically, I would say it isn’t hard to understand why some fans weren’t thrilled. Even I was left underwhelmed at times and there were a few points that just ticked me off such as the unexplained absence of 007 and 008 for most of the movie! However, I appreciate this update in a different spirit and encourage others not to simply brush it off! Watch the movie! (And read the booklet, it really adds some nice context!) Support the franchise in either dub or sub, and as always, be grateful to our friends at Funimation for their hard work!
