About Maria the Virgin Witch Blu-Ray/DVD
Maria the Virgin Witch - The Complete Series contains episodes 1 - 12.Don't miss this intriguing tale of magic, war, and sexual politics from Production I.G., the studio that brought you Eden of the East, FLCL, and Ghost in the Shell! In the time of the Hundred Years' War, a young and powerful witch known as Maria leads a reclusive existence. Shunned by the church - but beloved by a few locals - Maria endeavors to use her magic to bring an end to the warfare she so despises. Using her magical ability, she aids humanity alongside her two familiars: a seductive succubus and an incubus who's a little incomplete. Though she seeks only peace, the archangel Michael despises the way she uses magic to interfere with human affairs and decrees that should she ever manage to lose her virginity, her powers will vanish! To ensure that Maria no longer mixes magic with warfare, Michael sends the angel Ezekiel to keep a watchful eye on the virgin witch. In theory, his plan is sound. But keeping a fiery young woman bound by the rules of a higher power might prove too daunting even for an ever-vigilant angel.

Ratings & Reviews
One of the best shows of the 2015 Winter line up.

A truly unique gem of a show. Also an interesting insight into medieval sexual politics, the churches control, and insight into the 100 years war, itself.
My only complaint would have to be that Funimation didn't give this combo a better look. However, It's probably because there wasn't any bonus material made for the show, thus it did not warrant a Limited Edition.
Don't judge a series by its title.

When this series first came out I avoided it because of the title. Let's admit it, it's pretty embarrassing. I thought it was going to be one of those 17+, fan-service hentai shows, but when I heard good reviews about it I decided to give it a shot. Despite its title, Maria The Virgin Witch was a awesome show deserving of the praise I heard about. Yes, there are sexual jokes, but for the most part it's about a witch who just wants to stop wars and find love, all while growing up herself. I would rate this more 15+ than 17+. Definitely a "Don't judge a book by its cover" show.
3 seperate episodes worth it
Place: Medieval France. Events: War, plague, Church directed repression. That's the back drop of this uncommon rom-drama-dy. Enter the heroine Maria the Witch. Maria is a pacifist that just wants to be left alone. Of course peace is at odds with the local nobles, the all-powerful Church of Rome, and mercenary witches and humans. While our powerful witch is stopping battles and sickness, she is hunted by the afore mentioned parties. The title is misleading. This is not an ecchi magic girl show. Its a historical story that has a witch that is a virgin as the lead. Spoiler: If Maria has sex, she losses her powers, if she losses her powers she won't be burned at the stake. If she losses her powers she can't help the village or stop battles.
Bottom line: If this was a Ghibli production, you would have heard a lot more buzz. A real Gem that should be on your shelf. Very High re-watchablility rating.
