Fantastic

by

I have been watching anime for a long time now, since 1993, and I have enjoyed some titles and others I have enjoyed not so much. Fate/ Stay Night should be in your collection. It looks great; it sounds great, but what Fate/ Night Stay really delivers is a wonderful story. The pace of the story ( 24 eps) is the best I have seen in a long, long while, and the ending is Flawless.

A Must Buy

by -

I watched this anime when it came out and in my opinion its still better then the recent ones. Not only is it great but the price makes it buyable for anybody, if its your first time watching it you wont regret it, the story is amazing along with the characters

Better than the New versions

by

It seems to stay true to the original story. Shiro fell in love with king arthur not the wizardy girl. I like this original version and it has balance and fun scenes. The new one is just too serious. If you like humor get this.

Awesome

My review will be based on the price that I paid for, which was $5. For $5 I got an amazing series that has good pacing and great characters. There is a constant stream of action to keep you interested. If you are new to the series, I recommend you watch the prequel Fate/Zero first. While it isn't necessary to watch Fate/zero first, it will help give you some history. If it weren't for the sale, I would probably knock the score down to a 4, but I definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes action.

very good dont understand the hate

let me start off with i have not played the visual novel (well i played 2 hours worth of the fate route which this is based off). but even though its aged and had dips in quality i still enjoyed this. also as a note after watching the ufotable fates (zero and UBW) the english dub is kinda weird but i got use to it. all in all id recommend this to people who love fate zero and UBW

Good Fate

Saber! King of Kings definitely one of my favorite Fem Fa-tales in anime. This series doesn't disappoint. Looking forward to getting the alter Fate series Unlimited Blade Works as well...

excited!

Haven't gotten around to watching it. I've seen a little bit of fate zero and it seemed alright. I'm actually really excited to get into this here in a few days.

An all-around nice fantasy series

by -

I'm actually not really into the fantasy genre, but I've heard that this franchise is a good one to get into. So when I saw it on sale, I figured it was worth a shot. As for the series, I'd give it about a 5 out of 10. The animation is nice, the story is interesting, and the characters are very well designed. Although, it moved a bit slow for me, and I have some real problems with the quality of the English dub -- maybe because I'm a FUNimation girl through and through. As for the set itself, I think it's great that it comes on 4 disks -- it really feels high-quality. I would absolutely suggest this to a fellow otaku, especially if they're already a fan of the series.

The Original, the First, The Classic

The original Fate/Stay Night is the attempt to create an anime based off of the critically acclaimed Visual Novel of the same name. In the VN there are three 'routes' of which the story could possible progress and the developers of this anime thought that they could take on the monumental task of turning the entire 120 hour long Visual Novel into a 24 episode anime featuring all three routes smashed into one. Unfortunately it did not work out as well as they had hoped as they ended up missing a lot of important exposition, that there was already a lot of, to explain how things worked or why something was happening. Though what they did do right was get the most important pieces of information out, show great fights between the characters and even made the characters feel alive. The music should not even have to be mentioned as it is a staple of anything related to TYPEMOON to have some of the most amazing music. Though beware, this anime does show it's age.

Decent Fantasy Anime

This show is a pretty good entry in the fantasy genre. If you like any .hack show, you'll probably like this one as they feel pretty similar. The main concept where humans forge a contract with an epic hero from the past to do battle for the holy grail is pretty intriguing, and done very well. A sense of mystery is maintained throughout most of the show and the episodes all end in a way that make you want to not stop watching. The main character is pretty obnoxious, probably due to this series' origins as a harem eroge (there's no sex or nudity in the anime), but all the other characters are really cool. I had a tough time watching the dub because the main character gets even worse, but the voices in Japanese are very good. The actual product is pretty bare-bones, with no extra features, but you get all the episodes and the show is certainly worth a purchase.

A Fine Show

Overall an extremely enjoyable series. I bought it when it was on sale so it was definitely worth the purchase. For the price I'm amazed it was so good. The characters are memorable, and the plot is very interesting with lots of twists and turns.

Wonderful Modern-Day Classic

by -

Although you can easily tell that the animation isn't the best (especially compared to Ufotable's F/SN: UBW and Fate/Zero), I personally enjoyed the story MUCH better than UBW and almost as much, if not equally as Fate/Zero. Although it definitely has its occasional dips in quality, this anime is a modern-day classic for its original story and likable characters. I recommend that all lovers of action/shounen anime watch this amazing anime, along with the rest of the series.

not 10/10 bt still good

by -

the original fate/stay night anime was a hodgepodge of all 3 routes of the visual novel of the same name but it did a decent job at adapting the first route

Worth the hype?

by -

Fate/Stay Night.I decided it was best to start from the beginning or at lest the first anime. The characters are likable I enjoyed my time with them and I can see people wanting to spend more time with them.

Story. I would say this is why we have so many spin offs the setting is an enjoyable one were we get to see legends of lore from all over time come forth and do battle its an interesting idea and i enjoyed it. However the villain of this tale was very weak for me I couldn't care less about him or his actions. I will say the way these characters dealt with loss left a mark on me.

Over all I enjoyed this anime and I struggled with 3-4 stars but in the end it was Okay. If your interested in the series I would say try it as I said i did enjoy it however its not a must see and with all the other anime coming out of late its not one i would recommend over many others

Shounen on drugs

by

This show had an amazing predecessor in Fate:Zero. Zero is one of the best "battle royale" anime i've ever seen. Stay Night is Zero's whiny little cousin.

Pros:

-Ilya Sphile

-Arthuria's story has a satisfying ending

-the blood didnt get on the carpet

Cons:

-writers took a vacation when thinking of character development (it isnt there, except for Arthuria, Rin, and Ilya)

-the sheer lack of any meaningful story (last episodes downplay the whole show)

-the blood got on everything else
