Finally, you too, can watch, and own, this wonderful adolescent adventure on Blu-ray

by -

And incredibly well realized, heartfelt, and gripping adventure series featuring some of my favorite young protagonists, as well as an awesome granny. If that didn't sell you already, it is one of the better looking series to come out in the middle 2000s. Featuring animation by a lot of the biggest names, and directing by Mitsuo Iso, a man partially responsible for revolutionizing how animation is handled.

The release puts episodes 14-22 on one 50GB Blu-ray, and the final episodes 23-26 on a 25GB Blu-ray disc, for a pretty solid distribution. Otherwise the release is fairly barebones, but if you are like me and have been waiting for this show to get a US release for years, it is more than enough.

Worth Multiple Viewings!

My husband and I had been waiting for a US release of Dennou Coil ever since we first saw it in 2007. It is one of the few anime that I have personally watched a total of 3 times, end-to-end. Each time I picked up subtle references that I didn't notice before. The way the story revealed might seem frustratingly slow for some people, but it is really quite masterful. Much better than if they rushed it into a 13-episode season. It has a wonderful balance of humor, seriousness, and mystery. The opening theme is fantastic, too. I've already bought the Blu-Ray Collection 1 and will be buying 2 soon. I'm looking forward to marathoning the anime for a 4th time!

A fantastic conclusion to a fantastic show

The second season is every bit as good as the first.

If anything, better, actually--when the plot starts to come together it hits some dark notes for what is superficially a kids' show, has a few twists with real emotional punch, and is amazingly creepy.
